1992 Jaguar XJ220
Estimate: $175,000-$225,000 US
Chassis No. SAJJEAEX8AX220686
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $154,000
542bhp, 3,498 cc 24-valve twin-turbocharged V6 engine, five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel vented disc brakes. Wheelbase: 103.9"
The XJ220 presented here was formerly the property of a very prominent European car collector, who had strong ties with the Jaguar factory. The car was subsequently purchased by an owner from Connecticut who imported it to the United States and assumed all the fees and duties necessary to carry out EPA testwork, allowing this car to be road registered in the United States. A thorough mechanical checkup was conducted in 2005 (including belts, hoses and fluids) and the car was subsequently acquired by one of the country’s most prominent Jaguar collections, where it has been professionally maintained by marque specialists. It has been driven sparingly since its acquisition by the vendor and currently shows about 5,360 kilometers.
The car is also accompanied by the original bill of sale. Finished in silver with a grey interior, it remains in excellent condition throughout, in keeping with its low mileage and proper maintenance.
All told, less than 300 XJ220s were ever assembled in a short production run that began in 1992. With less than 5,400 original kilometers, this particular example remains a splendid example of Jaguar’s exhilarating supercar of the 1990s.
