    Car offered at:
    www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php

    Sellers description:
We are pleased to offer 1993 Jaguar XJ220 S Racer s/n 220801, a Tom Walkinshaw Racing designed one–off race car based on the TWR designed and built XJ220 S, making this a very exclusive vehicle. This two owner XJ220 S Racer is finished in silver with black trim and a black leather interior with Willans racing seat belts. S/n 220801 was only driven by the owner to a few local club events, and so has only 281 miles.

When introduced in the early 1990s, the Jaguar XJ220 was the fastest production car on the planet at 220 mph. When Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) and Jaguar Sport launched the XJ220–C to compete in the GT class (Group N) of FIA motor sport, the bar was again raised. At the same time, in January 1993 at the Autosports Show in England, TWR and Jaguar Sport also announced the XJ220 S, a limited–production, road–going version to comply with homologation requirements. Besides the five “standard” XJ220 S models that were built, Tom Walkinshaw Racing also put a boxed tube “A”–arm front racing suspension and huge radial–mounted monoblock Brembo racing calipers on the tub of chassis 220801, made the car even lighter by leaving out some of the street trim pieces, changed the conventional side windows to fixed perplex windows with sliding vents, removed the air conditioner and then fitted the XJ220 S drivetrain and high–quality lightweight carbon fiber bodywork.

While the standard XJ220 was clothed in a lightweight aluminum body, TWR’s S version replaced every panel, except the doors, with high–quality lightweight carbon fiber resulting in a svelte 2,379 pound brute, and this car is even lighter. In doing so they added a front splitter, wider rocker panels and a large carbon fiber rear wing that gives the XJ220 S an imposing look, making the standard XJ220 look domesticated. The lightweight carbon fiber nose is easily removable for access and service. TWR also cranked the twin–turbo V–6 from 540 bhp to an impressive 680 bhp. The XJ220 S could leap to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reach 228 mph. Because s/n 220801 is even lighter than a standard XJ220 S, it is even quicker and thanks to huge Brembo calipers, has the stopping power to match the performance, yet is tractable enough that it can be driven on the street.

1993 Jaguar XJ220 S s/n 220801 has virtually no miles, is near new and priced very right for what is a unique page of Jaguar and TWR history at $295,000.

Chassis 801 was purchased unfinished and completed by a private buyer. It was never light blue - original colour once complete was dark green. Sold to the USA and repainted silver as it is today. It is not an original XJ220S although it has a full carbon fibre body (apart from the doors). Note the split tail section.

The light blue car is actually chassis 784 and the photos should probably be moved. Chassis 784 is currently black and resides in the USA - was for sale at SEMA 2009. It has been modified with new headlamps and kinesis rims.

How do we know the car in the video is infact 220801

Regarding the video and correct chassis number - the video was shot by PELOTON25 at Woodland Hills, CA at the autogallery Grand Opening celebration held May 11th, 2002.
You will note the video showing the car being parked on the red carpet. I have uploaded today additional still photos of the same car on the red carpet - with Rothmans Porche on one side and the white Porsche on the other to confirm the that the video and the stills show the same vehicle at the same location. I have also uploaded a photo of the back of the car on the red carpet, and photoshopped the same photo to reveal the detail of the rear end from the shadows. The photo reveals the unique exhaust treatment at the rear of the car - straight through between the tail lights with a unique drilled or honeycomb panel rather than the standard louvered XJ220 panel. The exhausts are quite close to the tail lights unlike the Le Mans cars which were much closer together. The nose cone is standard XJ220S but the tail section is split to allow removal from the vehicle. This is the only car apart from the Le Mans cars to have this modification. You will note also the absence of the orange inticator light from within the lower headlight . If you compare these photos and description with the photos on this website already which may have been taken from Michael Sheehan Ferraris on line website you will note exactly the same modifications - straight through exhaust close to the tail lights, drilled rear panel, missing front indicators and split tail section. Both cars have smoke interiors. The photos on the website already show the car number. I have also uploaded a photoshopped photo of the rear from this website to more clearly show the exhaust.
These cars are extremely rare as it is, especially with "S" modifications so 2 different cars modified identically beggars belief.
I thus believe that the car in the video is in fact chassis 801.

I have further info on the original engine I have for this car.It is the matching numbers engine for the original car.
It is not standard and is race spec apparantly. It has a distributor, cap and leads on each bank which isnt standard Xj220.I have no idea what modifications are done internally. There are a few details that are different from standard such as cam cover nuts but turbos seem similar to standard although they may not be from this engine.
The engine came with a car I am restoring to standard and If not required by the owner of this car,I shall be fitting it to my car probably early next year unless i come accross my original engine.
